Main Task - Planning Stage

Initial Ideas for the Main Task
Below is the initial ideas that my group came up with for the film, we decided to use the name "Re-Birth" as the films title. These are the ideas that we had:

The plot of Re-Birth
Re-Birth is about a man who goes by the name of Steve Jones, who is fighting another man and finds himself weaker than the other man. Then gets KO by the stronger man, then eventually finds himself in a mysterious location and is confronted by a demon who offers him Immortal Power so that he can then avert the affects of knock-out (KO) and win the fight. But the Demon gives the man a choice, between Immortal power or die from the injuries, he sustained in the fight. He agrees and shakes the Demon's hand and from that he changes in his apperance, voice and his strength, then he decides to change his name from Steve Jones, to SJ. The inital ideas above also illustrates the types of props, music, location, scenes, etc... of the potential thriller opening.

Below is our group's film script that I wrote (as highlighted in Orange below)
RE-BIRTH: SCENE 1: SHOOTING SCRIPT
The audience gets a shot of the woods, the camera is panning a wide shot of the area
CUT TO:
The character STEVE JONES running in the woods being chased by something but at this stage no one knows what by. Different cuts of him running from different angles.
Eventually rest on the TREE breathing heavily there from nowhere the demon of darkness appears and the dialogue begins
DEMON
(Clapping his hands)
Well done, oh well done son
STEVE
(shocked reaction)
W-w-where did you come from?
DEMON
(still walking towards him)
Oh, don't worry about me, I'm here for you
STEVE
(confused look on his face)
DEMON
I'm just here to help you
(raises his hand out)
I see you've got good stamina on you
STEVE
(still with a confused face)
Thanks, ermm- thank you

But how about I make you the strongest man in the world, how about I make you the fasted man in the world, all you have to do is sign a deed with me...
STEVE
B-but who are you though?
DEMON
(Smiling)

(pulls hand out
STEVE
What shake it?
DEMON
Yeah, shake it
The hand meet and there is a close up on the hand shake, whilst the Demon is speaking random word which would sound like a spell is being casted. When this is happening, the earth beings to shake
CUT TO:
The new Steve but changes his name to just SJ. There is a shot of him getting up from the ground and looking up and down at himself, most in particular looking at the ring in his finger, because that holds all the power he possessive. Then there is a 360o shot of him and there is a voice over say

(Where am I? What I’m doing here? What happened to me? I don’t understand. Where did I go to? What did he do to me? Where am I? Someone help me, pleaseeee)
(falls to the ground)

DR JONES
Are you okay? What's the matter with you?

(Knee’s and throws Dr. Jones away with his new extraordinary strength, then walks over Dr. Jones)
Then we get the title of the film whilst the film theme song is getting play in the back ground.
Alterations made along the way
A change concerning the main task: One of our group members Kelsey has announced that she will no longer be able to film with the group (group 1) on the main task unfortunately this left us with one less film star (actress).
Now the group agreed that will have to adapt and continue to plan for the main task without Kelsey.
However it's confirmed that Darren Smith from another group will assist us, by appearing in the fighting scene for the main task thriller opening (Rebirth).

Planing for the main task

When planning for the main task, I outlined possible locations where the filming for the main task may be held.
By the end of this 45 minute discussion we all decided that filming for the main task, will take place in these 2 locations as indicated by the map (below).

Label "1" indicates where filming for the first scenes will take place (outside the college grounds). At the nearby forest near the 'Queen Mary's hospital'.

The reason for these locations is because we all thought that it creates that mysterious setting, which will allow the audience to create their own enigmas on this narrative. As we all thought that a location with minimal activity (i.e a lack of cars driving, etc) will be less disracting for the audince but most importantly the film stars when acting. This will keep the audience glued to the opening thriller film from my group. And what it's trying to showcase.

Main task - Update (Log) - 30/03/12
Filming for the main task (for group 1) will take place after the Eater break on the 1st day back (16/04/12). This is because we as a group must set a date to when it's convenient for ALL group members to film for the main thriller task.
Main task - Update (Log) 20/04/12
Filming for the main task (for group 1) took place on the 20/04/12, which was completed on the day. The location of the filming was held outside the college at the nerby forest located near the Queen Mary's Hospital and finially the last scene was held on the college field. The reason for this location is to create the Thriller setting which then could transmit to the audeince and allows them to create their own enigmas, as this is one important factor or convention a Thriller genre must show. As the whole reason for this main task is to meet the conventions of a Thriller genre. Alterations Made along the way: However there has been many alterations made in the lead up to this mainstask. As the whole narrative has been changed, due to the fact that John (from the group) couldn't make the outlined date when filming was supposed to commerce. So me, Denzel and Darren had to be creative and make use of that day and the very little time available (Aprox. 2 hours), to film only the first scenes in the 1st loaction (the forest near Queen Mary's Hospital).
Gladly the filming went to plan. And John announced that he will be avaliable to film his scene (which happens to be the last scene) on the date 23/04/12.

The camera our group used was a Nikon HD camera. We all thought it was suitable because this technological device is portable and handheld, which allowed the camera man to easily record scenes as the cameraman can freely move his wrist while in possession of the portable camera. Even in the bad wether conditions that my group did exprience. Also the dialogue some of scenes had was easily recorded with barely or no problems.
Finally the audio the Nikon camera was able to capture was significantly good and had high quality. This helped the group imensely, as the when filming none of us had to raise our voices significantly loud becuase the camera was able to pick up the sound.
However due to the camera's good audio dector features this enable one of our scenes to have noise from a passing by car which made the the actors voice seem very low. On the otherhand this was soon corrected by the final cut pro feature, of audio modify, which in somewhat solved the problem but not completely.

The ring is suppose to connote power (immortality). As the man character sees the changes in his appearance (physically, vocally, etc...) but firstly he notices his hands have appeared bigger and much longer. Which indicated to hime that something has changed. Apart from that, there was no other props that we used.
We also used a memory card that can be put into the camera easily and that can easily be put into the integral memory stick (or USB). This had allow our group to export our raw footage from the Nikon HD camera our own computer. This saved us a lot of time, to focus on other issues concerning the development of the film.

Production Company
The name that my group and I decide was Blade's Production. The reason we chose this name was because we wanted a name that people would remember and that we wanted something that people would be able to recongnise when they see it. On top of the that, we liked the name and we all came to agreement with the name in less than 30 seconds because we all tought of the same name.
